My Story

I became a lawyer because I genuinely like solving problems — the harder, the better. After more than a decade in practice, that hasn't changed.

I am a bilingual litigator licensed in California, Nevada, and Washington D.C., with a practice focused on complex business and commercial disputes. Since my admission to the California Bar in 2014, I have represented a wide range of clients — from Fortune 500 companies to small business owners, from local entrepreneurs to international corporations — across a broad spectrum of substantive legal areas. Every client, regardless of size, gets the same thing from me: serious attention, honest counsel, and a genuine commitment to results.

My practice is primarily litigation-based, but I am equally at home in transactional work and alternative dispute resolution. That range matters. Real-world legal problems rarely fit neatly into one box, and clients are better served by a lawyer who can see the full picture. My investment in ADR goes beyond experience — I hold a Master's degree in Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine University School of Law's Strauss Institute, one of the most respected ADR programs in the country, alongside my J.D. When negotiation, mediation, or arbitration can get my client to a better outcome faster, I say so — even when litigation would be the easier recommendation.

My practice has an international dimension that I find deeply rewarding. I am Korean-American, fluent in Korean, and I bring a firsthand understanding of Korean language, culture, and business customs to my work. One area I am particularly passionate about is serving as a bridge between Korea and the United States — helping Korean individuals and businesses establish, grow, and protect their interests in the American market, and equally, helping U.S. clients navigate opportunities and disputes involving Korean counterparts. Whether it is a Korean entrepreneur launching a U.S. venture, a Korean company enforcing a judgment or protecting its intellectual property on American soil, or a U.S. business resolving a cross-border dispute with a Korean partner, I bring something most attorneys cannot offer: not just legal expertise, but genuine cultural and linguistic fluency on both sides of the table. That combination changes the quality of representation in ways that matter — in how trust is built, how negotiations unfold, and how outcomes are achieved.

Outside the Office

When I am not working, you will likely find me on a hiking trail, somewhere in nature, or deep in a book I cannot put down. I play tennis, badly but enthusiastically — which, come to think of it, is not a bad metaphor for litigation. I believe the same curiosity that draws me to the outdoors and to reading makes me a better lawyer: always asking questions, always looking for a different angle, never assuming the obvious answer is the right one.

A Note on Why It Matters

The word chesed is a Hebrew concept that loosely translates to loving-kindness — a deliberate, active choice to show up for others with care and integrity. It is not a coincidence that it is the name of this firm. The law is a powerful tool, and I take seriously the responsibility that comes with wielding it on someone else's behalf. My clients are not case numbers. Their problems are real, the stakes are real, and the work I do for them reflects that.
